Interview with Almas Šehić

Almas Šehić is the owner of Mismo Dynamics, a consulting firm partnered with Microsoft. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Florida. Prior to his current role, Šehić worked as a consultant with Avanade, an ERP specialist with Stein Mart, and a supply chain analyst with Fanatics, Inc.

Can you describe your occupation, including your title, industry, duties, and the impact your actions have in your field?

I am the owner of a Microsoft Partner consulting firm (Mismo Dynamics) specializing in the implementation of ERP and CRM systems from Microsoft’s suite. We work with clients across various industries, including manufacturing, retail, and agriculture. Our work has a significant impact; ERP and CRM systems are among the most critical, expensive, and integral systems for businesses. Most of our clients generate $500M+ in revenue, and the complexity of implementing these systems—tailored to each client’s industry and specific needs—makes our role both challenging and rewarding.

How did you get your start in your industry?

During my first job at Fanatics, a large online sports retailer, I worked in the supply chain department. This role introduced me to how ERP systems function in real-world operations. Over time, my interest grew, and I pursued further certifications and deeper knowledge of ERP software. Eventually, I transitioned into consulting, joining Avanade—a joint venture between Microsoft and Accenture—where I worked with some of Microsoft’s largest clients to implement Dynamics 365 solutions.

What steps have you taken over the years to advance in your industry?

Continuous learning has been key to my growth. I stay updated on evolving software features; technological advancements, including cloud computing and AI; and industry-specific changes. Sharing best practices and tailoring solutions for clients across industries has also been instrumental in providing value. Given the scale of these complex and long projects, preparation and meticulous planning have been essential in ensuring success and helping our clients maintain a competitive edge.

How has working in your industry strengthened your connection to the Bosnian community?

While my industry hasn’t directly facilitated strong ties with the Bosnian community due to its niche nature, I’ve cultivated some meaningful connections. For instance, I partnered with Docentric, a Slovenian Microsoft Partner company, and developed friendships through our collaboration. I’ve also been invited to their Dynamics Con event in Slovenia and plan to attend in 2026. Additionally, I enjoy mentoring and advising Bosnians I encounter in related fields, sharing insights and guidance to help them excel in their roles.

What aspects of your industry have you made more accessible to the Bosnian community?

I’ve been fortunate to share my expertise with fellow Bosnians, even when they’re in unrelated industries. I recently advised a Bosnian Ivy League graduate who was transitioning to a leadership role in the automotive industry. I provided insights on how warehouses and manufacturing facilities operate from a software perspective, helping him succeed in his role. These conversations often allow me to bridge gaps in knowledge and make complex concepts more accessible.

What has been a memorable project for you, and what did it teach you?

One of my most memorable projects was an ERP migration for Ralph Lauren and Club Monaco after Ralph Lauren sold Club Monaco. This project was special; Ralph Lauren was a brand I admired growing up. Collaborating with such a globally recognized company early in my business journey strengthened my confidence and my belief in our ability to succeed at the highest level. The experience taught me that perseverance and dedication can lead to incredible opportunities.

What advice do you have for Bosnian-American professionals who want to join your industry and succeed like you?

The best advice I can give is to approach this industry with unwavering dedication and a commitment to continuous learning. The ERP landscape is constantly evolving with new technologies, features, and industry demands shaping its future. Success requires a deep understanding of the software, the industries you serve, and the ability to anticipate and adapt to change.

It’s not an overnight process. My journey involved years of studying after hours, earning certifications, working 80+ hour work weeks, and consistently staying up-to-date with new developments. Even now, I dedicate time to learning every month as new updates and features are released.

For those willing to put in the effort, this field offers immense rewards, both financially and professionally. But it’s important to be realistic—this path requires years of dedication, persistence, and passion. If you’re up for the challenge, the opportunities are boundless, and the impact you can make is profound.
