10 Things to Know About Sanela Gazić

1. I became an aunt at the age of seven! I’m now a “certified unc” with five nephews and one niece.

2. I finished my undergrad in biomedical sciences but now work in law. Recently, I obtained my Master of Laws degree.

3. I’m a history buff! Social studies was always my favorite class growing up. Now, I love watching history documentaries, especially ones about World War II. I make it a point to visit at least one museum in every new city that I visit.

4. Both sides of my family are from the Central Bosnia Canton, specifically Bugojno and Gornji Vakuf! However, I am the only one in my immediate family born in the US.

5. I’m the youngest (and coolest) sibling of four. I have three older brothers who were role models for me growing up and who I still look up to now.

6. I love to travel! My favorite city that I’ve been to in the US is Boston; it has stunning architecture and a rich history. My favorite country I’ve visited is, of course, Bosnia, because it’s my heart’s home!

7. I constantly have music playing at my house. My two favorite genres of music are narodna (Šaban Šaulić is my favorite singer), and R&B (I’ve really been into Tems and Daniel Caesar lately).

8. I lead an active lifestyle. I don’t care what I have going on; I make sure to get at least 10k steps in a day! I love my barre classes as well.

9. I’m a big-time foodie and am known as the friend who always “has a spot.” I love to try new places, and going out to eat with good company is one of my favorite hobbies. My favorite food is sushi.

10. I’m passionate about giving back to the Bosnian community. I love serving on the BAPA board, where I’m able to make a meaningful difference while connecting with inspiring people. Beyond BAPA, I’m actively involved in my local džemat, taking part in youth initiatives that encourage connection and community both at our džamija and beyond.
