Ajla Terzic is a writer and  a journalist; she works as the foreign policy editor at Oslobodjenje. She is  the author of three books, various essays, and writes op-eds and columns for  political and cultural magazines. She is a University of Maryland Humphrey  Fellow and in 2012 won the Central European Initiative Fellowship for Writers  in Residence Award.

Elvis Hadzic is a painter,  musician, and writer.  His books include Bestije i Aveti and Kao Pravi Dzeko, and his short story “The Curious Case of  Benjamin Zec” represented Bosnia in Best  European Fiction 2014.  His paintings  have been exhibited in Monchendgladbach, Stuttgart, and Duseldorf while he was  an immigrant in Germany.  He is currently  rewriting his novel, The Ghost, into  English.

In May 1993, twenty-year-old Jasmina Dervisevic-Cesic escaped  genocide and arrived in Boston as the first Bosnian refugee granted permission  to seek medical care in America. She had lost her husband, two brothers, uncle,  grandmother and countless friends, as well as her right arm. She is a frequent guest speaker at community events and  schools where she shares her remarkable story through her memoir, The River Runs Salt, Runs Sweet. This year,  the Laredo Public Library selected Jasmina’s memoir for their One City, One  Book program; Jasmina’s book was also selected by Texas A&M International  University as the Global Read for fall 2014.

Kenan Trebincevic’s work has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times Op-Ed  page, The International Herald Tribune,  Salon.com, on American Public radio, and in the Best American Travel Writing Anthology 2012. His memoir The Bosnia List, coauthored with  journalist Susan Shapiro, was published by Penguin in February 2014; a  Bosnian-language version was published over the summer.
